Overview

The Training Foreman is critical to ensure the development and availability of qualified plumbers to support future growth, including on site cultural and technical leadership.


Responsibilities

On the Job Training (65%)

  • Diligently communicate with and serve trainees every day by answering questions, providing individualized on the job training, and sharing the work plan and requirements for each day
  • Precisely teach the technical side of the installation and explain the technical function of HVAC or plumbing in connection with the installation of each system
  • Specifically, teach code requirements for installations
  • Openly share feedback about the quality and ensure each trainee maintains installation based on quality standards
  • Carefully check the quality of output by trainees throughout the day
  • Consistently train and hold trainees accountable to workplace safety
  • Responsively manage the cleanliness and organization of the workplace including material management by stocking trucks and ensuring piece-rate success through effective set up of jobs
  • Efficiently work with trainees to get each ready for piece-rate through tracking installation times against piece-rate dollars and record time of certain tasks job to job; share outcomes with trainees

 

Mentoring and Coaching (30%) 

  • Uncompromisingly teach and hold trainees accountable for company policies including attendance, punctuality, and dress code
  • Always serve as a positive example of company core values and culture and encourage the same from each trainee in every interaction
  • Encouragingly share insight about effective and appropriate communication with customers and when to escalate and direct customers to supervisors
  • Capably mediate and manage issues as needed
  • Reassuringly guide new maintenance employees during onboarding and transition into the workforce

 

Administrative (5%)

  • Carefully review each trainee’s skills in the online training module to verify proficiency or determine opportunities for additional training to address gaps and areas to improve
  • Accurately monitor the quality of daily timesheets of trainees

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • 4 years of field HVAC experience OR Journeyman’s plumber license

 

Working Conditions

  • Exposed to outdoor weather conditions including rain, humidity, snow, wind, cold, and heat.
  • The environment may include very loud noises, working near mechanical and moving parts, working at various heights, and small, awkward, confining workspaces.
  • There is a possibility of inhalation of fumes and airborne particles as well as the risk of electrical shock and vibrations.
  • Must be able to do the following activities for most of the workday: stand, walk, use hands or fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, see, talk and hear.
  • Must be able to climb or balance regularly.
  • Near constant lifting or carrying of items of various weight, typically up to 10 – 50 pounds most of the day. Capable of lifting at least 100 pounds on occasion.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, work with the fingers and perceive attributes of objects and materials.
