Overview
The CAD Designer is critical to the organization through using CAD Software to provide support and produce accurate and detailed information in a timely manner to enable first time quality for clients.
Responsibilities
Software / CAD (40%)
- Expertly manage multiple design projects simultaneously using CAD Software to produce plumbing and mechanical designs based on client and company specifications
- Consistently create pre-fab drawings and state, permit, and construction documents according to set timelines and expectations
Project Design (30%)
- Accurately evaluate engineer drawings to identify opportunities to create a more efficient, cost-effective, code-compliant design
- Precisely calculate detailed heat loads, ductwork sizes, piping, and plumbing sizes for each design
- Comprehensively create material lists of all necessary materials for each design
- Methodically generate fixture and equipment schedules to ensure each project is completed on deadline
Information Gathering (15%)
- Carefully review and understand and articulate structural documents associated with each design and correctly interpret plumbing and HVAC code requirements to ensure designs are code compliant
- Thoroughly create submittal packages and present to internal customers for review
Communication (15%)
- Clearly communicate with other trades, architects, general contractors, field engineers, project managers, field staff, and relevant internal departments such as estimating, to ensure applicable information is captured and all individuals are kept abreast of project progress
- Diligently gather and apply multiple perspectives on design options and ask appropriate questions of each party to determine the scope of project work
- Correctly use project management software to coordinate with internal team

Qualifications
- Clear, effective communications skills – both written and verbal

- Preference for accuracy, attention to detail, and organization
- Mastery of entire Microsoft Suite plus Internet and email
- Experienced in AutoCAD or other related software
- Ability to utilize Revit, Navisworks, and Bluebeam software
- A high school diploma or GED is required, Associate or Bachelor degree preferred
- 2 years CAD design software experience
- Basic construction knowledge required
Working Conditions
- Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting
- Moderately noisy environment with light traffic, office equipment, and guest entrance
- Sedentary physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative nature
- Must be capable of lifting up to 10 pounds
- No overnight travel required; some local travel required
